Key Responsibilities
  • Nursing Leadership:
    Supervise all nursing staff, unlicensed assistive personnel, and designated ancillary healthcare staff.
  • Recruit, train, and onboard new nursing personnel and unlicensed assistive personnel. Participate in screening interviews to assess candidates’ knowledge, skills, and fit within the corrections environment.
  • Provide ongoing education and training for nursing and healthcare staff.
  • Operational Oversight:
    Manage departmental budgets, monitor healthcare supplies, and oversee medication management.
  • Develop and maintain nursing staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage with appropriately skilled personnel.
  • Implement work structures and processes to meet patient care goals and healthcare policy requirements.
  • Patient Care Management:
    Maintain high standards of care for all patients.
  • Communicate with doctors, patients, and families about healthcare needs and plans.
  • Support nursing staff in the provision of patient care as needed.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance:
    Ensure nursing practices meet state licensure, accreditation, and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Oversee patient data and medical records to ensure confidentiality and compliance.
  • Monitor and maintain the CQI program, identifying trends or gaps in care and driving improvement initiatives.
  • Administrative Responsibilities:
    Serve as a liaison with other operating units, external agencies, and officials.
  • Ensure nursing records are correctly maintained and accessible for audits or evaluations.
  • Coordinate and monitor orientation, in-service, and continuing education programs for nursing and ancillary personnel.
  • Policy Implementation:
    Implement and train staff on new procedures, policies, and protocols.
  • Actively participate in facility meetings and represent nursing leadership.
  • Conflict Resolution:
    Foster an environment that values professional conflict resolution. Approach problem‑solving with objectivity, insightfulness, and thoroughness.
  • Standard Practices:
    Follow standard precautions and utilize PPE as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Key Qualifications
  • Education:

    Associate Degree or RN Diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is highly preferred.
  • Experience:

    3‑5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in healthcare or nursing administration. 3‑5 years of professional nursing experience.
  • Licensure & Certification:
    Active RN license in the state of practice with unrestricted and non‑probationary status. Specialty certifications are desirable (e.g., CCHP, ACHE). Current BLS certification.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Competencies:

    Demonstrated critical thinking, organizational, and decisive judgment skills. Effective communication and customer service abilities. Capable of managing multiple tasks in a high‑pressure environment. Must adhere to Yes Care and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Additional Requirements:

    Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance. A background check, security clearance, and drug screening are mandatory.
