Commercial Finance Controller (9-Month Fixed Term Contract)

About the role
An established organisation is seeking a qualified Commercial Finance Controller to support commercial performance and informed decision making across the business. Working closely with senior operational and commercial leaders, you will provide forward-looking financial insight, maintain strong financial control, and help improve margins and profitability. This position is offered as a nine-month fixed term contract.
Key responsibilities:
- Partner with senior operational and commercial stakeholders to support performance improvement and decision making.
- Deliver forward-looking financial analysis to identify risks, opportunities, and margin improvement initiatives.
- Support pricing, cost management, and profitability analysis.
- Monitor performance against budget and forecast, clearly explaining drivers and variances.
- Take ownership of profit and loss, cash flow, and balance sheet reporting, ensuring accuracy and control.
- Lead month-end processes and deliver timely, accurate management accounts.
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of financial reporting, tools, and processes.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain transparency and alignment.
Requirements:
- Qualified accountant status such as CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent.
- Proven experience in commercial finance, finance business partnering, or financial controlling.
- Strong experience managing profit and loss, cash flow, and balance sheet reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to provide commercial insight and constructive challenge to non-finance stakeholders.
- Solid knowledge of financial reporting standards and governance.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with enterprise resource planning systems; data visualisation tools are desirable.
- Experience working within a structured, matrix environment.
