Head of Financial Planning (Research and Development) – 6-Month Contract £85,000–£97,000 pro rata | Hybrid | Central London An NHS organisation is seeking an experienced senior finance professional to provide financial leadership to a large Research & Development division on a 6-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Head of Financial Management, the role will partner closely with senior clinical and management teams, leading all aspects of divisional financial management, budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting.

You will have responsibility for complex research finances, including NIHR and other commercial and non-commercial funding streams, business case support, grant costing, and external stakeholder engagement. The postholder will oversee annual budget setting, monthly and annual reporting, programme budgeting, and financial risk management, while ensuring compliance with NHS statutory and governance requirements. A key part of the role involves translating complex financial information for non-finance stakeholders and supporting strategic R&D service developments.

Key requirements include:
Fully CCAB qualified Senior-level NHS finance experience within R&D Strong knowledge of research funding and costing methodologies Proven ability to lead complex budgets and influence senior stakeholders Hybrid working with 2 days per week on site in Central London.
