Financial Controller

My client are an 'Excellent' rated Independent School, seeking a dedicated and experienced Financial Controller to become an integral part of their vibrant school community. The role involves working closely with the Director of Finance & Resources and contributing to the school’s commitment to delivering exceptional education. This position requires a candidate with an accountancy qualification, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for working within an educational environment.

Key responsibilities:

Oversee the school’s day-to-day accounting function, ensuring effective procedures and robust controls. Prepare monthly management accounts and monitor Income & Expenditure variances. Report on cost centre income and expenditure, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported. Handle fee invoicing, fee collection, and debt chasing. Administer school finance transactions, process supplier payments, and input invoices into the accounting package.

Support the Director of Finance & Resources in financial and audit responsibilities in compliance with charity SORP. Liaise with auditors and implement audit findings. Provide timely and accurate financial information to the Director of Finance & Resources. Assist in presenting reports to the Finance Committee and Full Governor’s Meeting. Serve as the first point of contact for staff financial queries.

Perform various other tasks as instructed by the Director of Finance & Resources. Required Skills &

Qualifications:

Fully qualified ACCA/CIMA or equivalent. Excellent attention to detail and an analytical mindset. Management accounting experience, preferably within an educational or charity setting. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Benefits:
