Location: Elmbridge

As the Community Services Operations Manager, you will be responsible for reviewing and improving processes and procedures across the service ensuring that all are working efficiently, there is consistency across service areas and the customer is at the centre.

You will also be responsible for the oversight and management of both employees and volunteers who are working at our centres, looking at how we can develop a high functioning team, with improved support, integration across the organisation and development opportunities.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • With the Head of Service, review operational processes and procedures across Community Health and Wellbeing service, ensuring alignment with corporate procedures, relevant legislation and industry best practice.
  • Understand current systems, policies and procedures and work with the team to ensure consistency, implement efficiencies and improvements, ensuring a safe, legal and welcoming service.
  • Line manage senior centre manager, centre managers, duty supervisors and other roles as appropriate, motivating, supporting and performance managing in accordance with the council's employee management procedures.
  • Manage the volunteer experience, enabling centre managers to review processes, enhance training, support and management.
  • Work with the Head of Service to ensure the Centres for the Community offer is safe for all including employees, volunteers and customers; assess ongoing training needs with specialists and teams across the council, ensuring health and safety and food hygiene legislation compliance and embedding a proactive risk‑aware culture.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from across the council and specialist organisations to ensure the workplace culture safeguards children and adults at risk at the centre.
  • Ensure correct financial processes are followed, review monitoring of income and billing processes, and investigate and deliver improvement opportunities in partnership with the Head of Service and council teams.
  • Embed a continuous improvement culture, assessing opportunities for progression over the short and long term, creatively questioning and considering new ways of working, improving outcomes for customers and the community.
  • Take a pragmatic and practical approach to improvements at all centres, role‑model inclusive behaviours and introduce innovative ways of delivering aspects of the service that improve outcomes for customers, ensuring that all improvements are measurable, relevant data is collected and systems are introduced for effective ongoing oversight.
