FST - Social Worker

Location: Weybridge

Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Support Team (FST) Social Worker to join our Weybridge team. This role focuses on supporting children, young people, and families facing challenges related to unauthorised absence and engagement. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives and promotes equality at every level.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments and provide direct support to children and families affected by unauthorised absence.
  • Develop and implement tailored intervention plans aimed at improving child welfare and family engagement.
  • Collaborate with schools, healthcare providers, and other agencies to ensure a coordinated, holistic approach.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of children and families, promoting access to resources and opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, training, and supervision to continually develop skills and knowledge.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of work, ensuring services are accessible and culturally sensitive.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field; professional registration with a recognised social work body is required.
  • Experience working within social care, particularly with children and families.
  • Understanding of issues related to unauthorised absence and child welfare.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skills.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace and community.
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads with professionalism and sensitivity.
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
Day-to-Day
  • Utilise empathy and active listening to build trusting relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Visit homes and attend meetings with schools and other agencies to provide coordinated support.
  • Respond promptly to crises and urgent situations related to unauthorised absence.
  • Prepare reports, documentation, and court evidence when required.
  • Collaborate inclusively within a multidisciplinary team to design innovative solutions that meet community needs.
  • Champion an environment of respect and inclusion, valuing all voices and experiences in decision-making.
