Electroswitch is seeking a hands-on Process Engineer to improve manufacturing and assembly processes, support production, and lead continuous-improvement projects at our Weymouth facility.

This individual will work closely with operators, engineering, quality, and operations to troubleshoot production issues, improve workflow and equipment performance, develop tooling and fixtures, and introduce effective manufacturing methods. The position will also support new-product introduction and create the procedures and documentation needed to maintain safe, consistent, and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with production employees and leadership to resolve manufacturing issues and improve safety, quality, productivity, and workflow.
  • Lead process-improvement projects from initial analysis through implementation and follow-up.
  • Analyze manufacturing and assembly processes to identify bottlenecks, waste, quality concerns, and cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Design, develop, implement, and troubleshoot manufacturing tooling, fixtures, work holding devices, and assembly aids.
  • Apply Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to improve processes and reduce variation.
  • Conduct root-cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform time studies, line balancing, workflow analysis, capacity reviews, and equipment or floor-layout evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, process documentation, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Support new-product introduction and provide design-for-manufacturability recommendations.
  • Participate in Kaizen events, 5S activities, PFMEA, SPC, DOE, and other continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, validation, and ongoing troubleshooting.
  • Assist with equipment, tooling, manufacturing cost estimates, and capital requests.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and communicate progress, risks, and results to stakeholders.
  • Provide hands-on support to production employees when manufacturing problems arise.

Qualifications

  • Manufacturing, process, mechanical, industrial, or related engineering experience in a production environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting manufacturing or assembly operations.
  • Experience applying Lean or Six Sigma methods to process-improvement projects.
  • Experience with root-cause analysis, process troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
  • Ability to develop clear SOPs, work instructions, and other technical documentation.
  • Experience leading engineering or continuous-improvement projects.
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related discipline preferred. Significant relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • Ability to work onsite in Weymouth, Massachusetts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing and troubleshooting tooling, fixtures, or manufacturing aids.
  • Solid Works or comparable 3D CAD experience.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing or 3D printing.
  • Experience with ERP, MRP, PLM, or manufacturing systems.
  • Knowledge of SPC, PFMEA, DOE, CAPA, Kaizen, 5S, OEE, time studies, and line balancing.
  • Experience supporting new-product introduction or transferring products from development into production.
  • Experience in an electromechanical assembly environment.

Additional Information

  • Occasional travel to other company facilities, suppliers, or customers may be required.
  • Relocation assistance may be considered for a qualified candidate.
