Position: GCSE Tutor Required In DT4 Area

Tutor Opportunity - Weymouth (DT4) | 10 Hours per Week | £20-£30/hr 🌟

Are you passionate about supporting young people? Are you compassionate, calm and innovative?

At Prospero Teaching, we are looking for dedicated and empathetic Tutors to join our growing team in Weymouth (DT4) this term. This role involves supporting a Year 11 student who is currently unable to attend school full-time due to social anxiety and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA).

You’ll be working 1:1 with the learner to help them re‑engage with education, build confidence, and prepare for their GCSEs in English and Maths.

About the Role
  • Position: 1:1 Tutor (English & Maths)
  • Location: Weymouth (DT4)
  • Hours: 10 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Rate: £20‑£30 per hour (depending on experience)
  • Contract Type: Part-time, temporary
As a Tutor, you will:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, tailored sessions
  • Support the learner's academic progress and emotional well‑being
  • Monitor and report on progress weekly
  • Be calm, patient, and adaptable
  • Record attendance and engagement
  • Work collaboratively with the school and other professionals
About You
  • Nurturing and caring nature
  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum
  • Experience supporting learners with SEN/SEMH needs
  • Confident teaching GCSE English and Maths
  • Organised, dependable, and creative
  • Able to build trust and rapport with young people
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in UK schools
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding Training (or willingness to complete)
  • References available on request
Specific to This Role

You’ll be supporting a Year 11 student working at upper Key Stage 2 level in a calm, nurturing 1:1 environment. The learner is motivated to achieve and has post‑16 plans, but needs a tutor who can help close learning gaps and build confidence in preparation for exams.
