SEN Teaching Assistant

Full time, term time Pay: £89 – £95 per day Axcis Education is working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Weymouth that is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role involves supporting pupils in KS1 and KS2, with additional needs who benefit from targeted guidance and encouragement. You’ll work in both classroom and small-group settings, helping pupils access the curriculum, build confidence, and make steady progress across key areas such as early reading, phonics, writing, and numeracy.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN or lower-level learning needs
- Deliver phonics, literacy and numeracy boosters using teacher-led materials
- Support early reading, writing, and number skills for KS1 learners
- Assist the class teacher with whole-class learning and daily routines
- Help with classroom organisation, displays, and practical preparation
Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing - Supervise lunchtimes and playtimes, contributing to outdoor, creative, and play-based activities
- Experience working with children, ideally within a school setting
- An understanding of SEN and how to support pupils with additional needs
- A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach
- Confident communication and relationship‑building skills
