Lead Instructor; Zero

Dorset Outdoor Education Service are looking for an experienced instructor to join the team on a casual basis to supplement the delivery of educational day visits and activity sessions for young people in peak times.

Working with Dorset Council Outdoor Education Service means being part of a team that delivers memorable and meaningful outdoor learning experiences. At Weymouth Outdoor Education Centre, you’ll deliver a wide range of activities—from coasteering to climbing—while exploring some of Dorset’s most iconic and internationally recognised landscapes. Our location gives you the opportunity to share first‑hand insights into the area’s remarkable geology, ecology and natural environments.

Lead Instructors play a key role in delivering safe, engaging and high quality sessions for schools, groups and community users. Working under the guidance of a Senior Instructor, you will support both on site and off site activity delivery, ensuring sessions are well prepared, appropriately adapted and professionally led.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are eager to work alongside the core instructor team delivering high quality sessions on a casual basis. The ideal applicant will thrive in a busy outdoor centre environment, working confidently both alongside colleagues and independently when required. You should bring at least one year (or two summer seasons) of activity delivery experience and a genuine passion for working with children and young people.

We require the post holder to be outdoor first aid qualified, and hold at least one recognised coaching or instructor award, although candidates who hold multiple awards will be particularly well suited. A full driving licence is required, and candidates will ideally hold their D1 minibus licence.
