Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Bincombe Valley Primary School

Bincombe Valley Primary School

Fixed-term position starting 1 September 2026, term time only, hours 8:30am-3:30pm daily (31.25 hours per week), Dorset Grade 9.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support and lead the support of SEND pupils within our main school. HLTA status is essential for this role.

A Paediatric First Aid qualification is desirable, as is Nursery/EYFS experience.

The Role Will Include
  • Supporting and teaching children with EHCPs and additional needs.
  • Working alongside the class teachers from the children’s year groups to plan and deliver lessons in all subjects, as required.
  • Creating tailored interventions and helping the SENDCo assess pupil progress. Providing small-step targets based on EHCP outcomes.
  • Behaviour Management:
    Implementing positive behavioural strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Close liaison with the SEND Team, SENCO and Headteacher.
  • Attend internal and external meetings pertaining to the students.
  • Liaising with staff to enable children to access learning within main school classes.
