Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is currently seeking experienced Teaching Assistants to support a variety of SEN and SEMH schools and specialist provisions across the Weymouth area.

As we work with multiple specialist settings in the local area, there is a wide range of opportunities available rather than one fixed placement. This means you can gain experience in different environments while maintaining the flexibility that supply work offers.

This is an ad hoc, part-time supply position providing cover when schools require additional support. We are looking for experienced individuals who can hit the ground running, adapt quickly to new settings and confidently support pupils from day one.

• Supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH needs on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
• Assisting the class teacher with learning activities and behaviour management.
• Encouraging engagement, independence and confidence.
• Helping pupils regulate emotions and develop social skills.
• Supporting personalised learning programmes and interventions.
• Maintaining a safe, positive and inclusive environment.
• Building positive relationships with pupils and staff.

• Previous experience working in schools, alternative provisions or specialist settings.
• Knowledge and understanding of SEN and SEMH needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A resilient, calm and adaptable approach.
• The ability to use initiative and work effectively within different environments.
