The Role

Successful candidates will work as a Cover Supervisor within a secondary school in Weymouth
, starting in September 2026
.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee lessons during the short-term absence of the class teacher. All lesson plans and resources will be provided, meaning there is no lesson planning or marking required
. Your role will be to supervise students, ensure they remain engaged with the work set, and maintain a positive learning environment.

This is the perfect stepping stone for anyone considering a future in teaching, providing genuine classroom experience and a valuable insight into school life.

Responsibilities
  • Keep a reflective journal to support your professional development
  • Observe experienced teachers across a range of subjects and teaching styles
  • Develop an understanding of behaviour management and classroom practice
  • Learn how schools support students through effective pastoral care
  • Gain knowledge of school policies and procedures
  • Explore how your degree subject links to the National Curriculum
  • Support students with classwork, coursework and examination preparation
  • Build the experience and confidence needed for a future teaching career
