Planning Engineer

Overview

I'm recruiting for a Planning Engineer on behalf of a well-established aerospace manufacturing business. This role sits at the heart of engineering and operations, supporting the timely planning of both new and existing parts while optimising plant capability and manufacturing processes to improve productivity and compliance.

• Plan and optimise parts across NPI and re-engineering activity.
• Compile technical manufacturing instructions and route cards.
• Allocate set and run times; estimate machining times using material and cutting data.
• Advise the purchasing function on tooling and gauging requirements.
• Prove new working methods and implement process improvements.
• Act as an arbiter on product compliance.
• Liaise directly with customers on engineering queries.
• Support contract reviews and create process sketches using Catia.
• Support APQP and PPAP activities; manage export compliance requirements.
• Work closely with the quality function on NCRs and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor and implement customer specifications.

• Strong machining and processing background.
• Experience defining manufacturing methods, set times, and run times.
• Broad knowledge of machining techniques and special processes.
• Ability to improve production machines and process methods.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Aerospace engineering industry experience.

• BTEC or HNC in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.
• Fixture design and manufacture.
• Knowledge of export compliance.
• Experience supporting APQP / PPAP processes.

• 39 hours per week
• Monday to Thursday: 7:30am - 4:30pm
• Friday: 7:30am - 12:30pm
