About the RoleAs a Recovery Navigator within Reach Drug & Alcohol Services in West Dorset, you will play a key role in supporting individuals to make positive behavioural changes, reduce the risks associated with drug and alcohol use, and move towards sustained recovery. You will manage a caseload of service users, providing tailored support, signposting to appropriate services, and working collaboratively with partner agencies.

- Work collaboratively with partner agencies to undertake shared assessments, key working, and interventions that support progression from engagement through to structured treatment and sustained recovery
- Manage a caseload of service users, developing, implementing, and reviewing ongoing recovery and treatment plans
- Deliver structured one-to-one support and harm minimisation advice
- Carry out assessments, recovery planning, and risk management plans
- Facilitate and run group sessions within the service and wider community
- Empower service users to set and safely achieve their recovery goals
- Build strong relationships with GPs, healthcare professionals, social care networks, family members, and significant others
- Support access to additional services beyond appointments through community partnerships
- Engage and support volunteers and peer support workers
- Apply interventions such as Brief Interventions, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Psychosocial Interventions (PSIs), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and ITEP
- Work across a range of needs including:
Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST), alcohol use, non-opiate substance use, and combined alcohol and non-opiate needs
- A strong passion for supporting individuals through recovery
- Ability to build positive, professional relationships with service users and stakeholders
- Experience delivering person-centred or tailored interventions
- Strong communication and motivational skills
- Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams
- A community-focused and inclusive approach to practice
- Experience working within substance misuse services or similar roles
- Knowledge of harm reduction approaches and recovery models
- Experience facilitating group sessions or workshops
- Understanding of partnership working across health and social care services
- 27 days’ annual leave, rising to 32 after 1 year (plus bank holidays)
