Nakupuna Companies is seeking a Reclamation Crew Lead to support Nakupuna Companies on executing stream reclamation, land restoration, abandoned mine land (AML) closures, and other small, heavy civil constructions projects.

Working experience in operating heavy equipment for earthwork, stream restoration, flood recovery, fire recovery, and AML closure projects is required. The ideal candidate must have a strong ability to interact professionally with colleagues, subcontractors, clients, and project stakeholders in the ever-changing environment of a field construction project, while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

The Reclamation Site Foreman will review and execute project drawings and specifications; manage and direct junior field staff; coordinate subcontractors and suppliers; communicate frequently with the Nakupuna Companies Site Superintendent(s) and/or Project Manager(s), clients and stakeholders when on site; and remain flexible and resourceful to resolve field issues that may occur.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the planning, scheduling, and executing of field construction projects and tasks, having experience leading and working directly alongside field crews on all field tasks, and providing insight to efficiently completing work and using safe work practices for addressing small, heavy civil projects.
  • Professionally interacting with clients in the field, approaches others in a tactful manner; reacts well under pressure; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; and follows through on commitments.
  • Demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness; looking for ways to improve and promote quality; and monitoring own work to ensure quality.
  • Being willing to travel and work away from home for a week or more at a time, capable of standing for long periods of time, must be able to lift or move 50 pounds regularly in various terrain, and can easily access sites in remote areas on foot.
  • Exhibiting strong mechanical skills, having a good driving record, and paying attention to detail and ability to organize and effectively manage multiple field tasks to efficiently achieve project contract requirements.

Skills/

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in Western U.S. and with federal, state, and local agencies, as well as non-governmental groups.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, electronic timesheet and expense report submittals, computer applications is a plus.
  • Strong teammate, communicator and problem solver.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as evidenced by a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
  • 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER - desired

Education/

Experience:

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Has strong work experience in the areas noted above, holds a trade school certification in construction management or heavy equipment operation, or has earned an associate's or bachelor's degree in construction management, sciences, engineering technician, or related field.
  • Has minimum of two years’ experience operating heavy equipment (excavator, loader, bulldozer) on earthwork projects involving one or more of the following project types watershed restoration, AML closures, fire mitigation or restoration, water storage/conveyance improvements, site revegetation, stream hydraulic and habitat restoration, stormwater infrastructure improvements, remote roadway construction, or similar work.

Work Location:

On-site, reports to Wheat Ridge, Colorado office.

Travel Requirements:
Willingness to travel 50-75% of time along the Rocky Mountain region.

Physical Requirements:

The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.

Nakupuna Companies offers a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $30.37 to $35.00 (hourly USD).
