Summary/Objective

The Sci/Geo/Eng II serves as a leader in planning and directing cross-functional work on a project or specific scopes within a larger program. This role is responsible for executing complex assignments within broad guidelines, applying innovative solutions, and coordinating the work of assigned personnel, consultants, or contractors. Their actions and decisions can significantly impact the operational and financial outcomes of a project.

Additionally, they may mentor team members and contribute to performance management as appropriate.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Conduct and/or supervise on-site environmental activities, including site inspections, aquifer characterization, and implementation of remediation pilot testing.
  • Oversee third-party contractors during field execution and ensure alignment with project goals, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.
  • Perform data collection, review, and analysis to support the development of conceptual site models (CSMs), remedial strategies, and corrective action plans.
  • Support the development of remediation feasibility studies and contribute to the initial design of remedial equipment and treatment systems.
  • Prepare or review work plans, draft corrective action plans, and less complex technical reports in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of site activities, including equipment mobilization, permitting, and access permission.
  • Collaborate with project managers and senior staff on complex environmental projects, contributing technical insight and innovative solutions.
  • Participate in cross-training of staff to build team capacity and enhance overall project execution capabilities.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • A relevant technical diploma or university degree with 4–8 years of progressively responsible experience in oil and gas or environmental consulting projects.
  • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of formal education, depending on relevance and applicability to the role.
  • Demonstrated success working in multi-disciplinary environments (e.g., civil, construction, process, mechanical, IT), across diverse projects varying in size, scope, and complexity.
  • Specialized knowledge of technical practices and processes in core project disciplines and support functions, including EHS, engineering, construction, project controls, and supply chain management.
  • Proven ability to execute and support a variety of field and project-based assignments, contributing both technically and strategically.
  • In-depth understanding of technical topics and remediation methods, with growing expertise in multiple environmental or engineering focus areas.
  • Previous field experience in oil and gas or similarly regulated environments is considered an asset.
  • Note:

    Prior experience will be assessed at the time of hire and may be credited toward the role’s expectations. Credit is not granted on a strict 1:1 basis and will depend on the nature and relevance of the experience.
