As an Environmental Scientist
, you’ll be a key technical contributor supporting environmental, geotechnical, and engineering projects from planning through completion. You’ll spend most of your time in the field (about 80%) conducting site assessments, sampling, mapping, and supporting safe, compliant project execution—while developing the skills to grow into more advanced responsibilities.
This is an ideal role for an early-career scientist who enjoys variety, hands‑on work, and solving real-world environmental challenges.
What You’ll Do- Conduct and support on‑site environmental and geologic field activities
- Plan and prepare for fieldwork (equipment, supplies, documentation—you’ll be ready)
- Perform site reconnaissance, mapping, and soil, groundwater, and surface sampling
- Support environmental and drilling permitting efforts
- Assist with site plans, technical drawings, and data collection
- Oversee subcontractors and field personnel as needed
- Coordinate and support health & safety activities in the field
- Prepare field notes, data summaries, and draft technical reports
- Mentor and cross‑train technicians
- Balance multiple projects while maintaining safety, quality, and attention to detail
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Environmental Science
- 1–3 years of experience in environmental, Oil & Gas, or related field work
- Working knowledge of environmental and geologic concepts
- Strong organization, problem‑solving, and communication skills
- Comfort working independently in the field with limited supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites
Nice To Have
- OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification
- Experience with environmental remediation or geotechnical drilling
- Familiarity with GIS or CAD tools
- Field leadership or subcontractor oversight experience
- Approx. 80% field / 20% office
- Fieldwork in varying weather, terrain, and environmental conditions
- PPE required in field environments
- Medium physical effort, including lifting up to 50 lbs and frequent walking and standing
- Full‑time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- Occasional overtime or weekend work based on project needs
