The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers courteously, treats fellow associates with respect, follows company best‑practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures merchandise presentation. During all working hours, the Associate engages in a range of functions across the store as business needs require and may be requested to perform additional tasks that support customer service and operational goals.
EssentialFunctions
- Prioritises safety – practices safe behaviours and maintains a clutter‑free, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
- Assists customers at the register, answers questions politely and knowledgeably, greets all customers, and says “thank you” with every transaction.
- Responds promptly to customer service calls and handles all customer issues courteously, calling store leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high‑touch areas).
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the company dress code.
- Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean and organised.
- Expedites newly received merchandise receipts to the sales floor, merchandises all items per company practice, and maintains brand familiarity within departments to assist customers.
- Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program, Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist position (where applicable) and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty, safeguarding confidential information, cash, credit card information and merchandise.
- Follows all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies, proper processing of each piece and notification of store leadership for disposals.
- Follows all cash handling policies, maintains accuracy when handling bankable tenders, and performs related procedures.

- Effectively communicates with customers, associates and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Stand, walk and move around the store up to 100 % of the working time.
- Bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
- Occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Stockroom shifts – push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds regularly.
