Preschool Long-Term Substitute Teacher (FMLA Coverage)

The Preschool Long-Term Substitute Teacher provides instruction and support to preschool students in alignment with the school’s curriculum and early childhood standards. The substitute will maintain a nurturing, safe, and engaging classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, physical, and academic development of all learners during the regular teacher’s FMLA leave.

• Implement daily lesson plans following the district’s early childhood curriculum and the absent teacher’s plans.
• Provide developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with state early learning standards.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment that supports all students.
• Foster social-emotional learning, early literacy, numeracy, and motor development through play-based and guided learning experiences.
• Communicate effectively with paraprofessionals, related service staff, and administrators to support each child’s needs.
• Monitor and assess student progress; document observations and maintain records as required.
• Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children at all times.
• Maintain communication with parents/guardians as directed by the administration.
• Participate in team meetings and professional collaboration when appropriate.
• Follow all school and district policies, procedures, and schedules.

• Substitute Teaching License Required
• Valid IL Professional Educator License with an Early Childhood Endorsement, Preferred
• Experience working with preschool-aged children.

• Based on the district’s long-term substitute teacher pay scale.
