Job Summary

Facilitate efforts to establish and implement a shared mission and vision for the school that leads to academic growth for all learners; ensure that the school’s identity, vision, and mission drive all school decisions; set priorities for improving student achievement; align educational programs, plans, and actions to the district vision and goals; create symbols, ceremonies, and activities that support the vision and mission;

develop communication strategies; conduct difficult but crucial conversations with staff based on student performance data.

Key Responsibilities Mission & Vision
  • Develop and communicate a shared mission and vision that drives all decisions.
  • Align school’s identity, vision, and mission with district goals.
  • Lead the development and monitoring of school improvement targets measuring academic achievement and climate indicators.
Systems Change
  • Establish and maintain a safe, effective learning environment.
  • Collaborate with district and school staff to allocate personnel, time, materials, and resources to achieve improvement targets.
  • Manage fiscal and physical resources responsibly, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Utilize current technologies to support leadership and management functions.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the change process and use leadership and facilitation skills to manage it effectively.
Teaching & Learning
  • Collaborate with staff to develop and implement a rigorous, standards-based curriculum and research-based instructional practices.
  • Use multiple forms of data and student work samples to support improvement goals and celebrate successes.
  • Ensure differentiated instructional practices are implemented with fidelity.
  • Select and retain teachers who maximize student learning.
  • Observe instruction and provide timely, specific feedback as part of the teacher appraisal system.
  • Build high-performing instructional teams and link professional growth plans to data.
  • Develop and revise one’s own professional development plan for continued improvement.
Collaborative Relationships
  • Create and sustain relationships that actively engage students in learning.
  • Utilize meaningful feedback from students, staff, families, and community in evaluating instructional programs.
  • Engage families and communities proactively to support student learning and the school’s mission.

  • Treat all people fairly, equitably, and with dignity and respect.

Qualifications
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrative or Principal Endorsement.

Reports To

Assistant Superintendent, Elementary Education

Terms of Employment

260‑day contract; salary and fringe benefits established annually by the Board of Education.

Starting Salary: $108,000 annually or higher, commensurate with equivalent work experience.

Evaluation

Performance evaluated annually in accordance with district procedure.
