Part‑time para educator position (6 hrs/day, 10 months) located in Wheaton.

Wheaton - Salary: $23.61–$41.87 per hour
- Applicant requirement:
Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s preferred
At the direction of the principal, the para educator performs a variety of tasks to promote student learning and well‑being for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEP).
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist students in academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and physical support.
- Facilitate mastery of grade‑level curriculum or Alternate Academic Achievement Standards.
- Manage behaviors that impact student access to the curriculum.
- Support students in general education or specialized instructional settings throughout the school day.
- Participate in individualized or small‑group reinforcement of instruction.
- Provide instructional and classroom‑management support and related clerical tasks for teachers and staff.
- Continue planned instructional activities during a teacher’s temporary absence.
Special Requirements
- Frequent bending, walking, and lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent climbing, overtime or night work may be required.
- Flexible scheduling and location changes possible.
- Knowledge of child development and instructional strategies applicable to the assignment.
- Ability to implement the instructional program and monitor student behavior.
- Effective communication, written and verbal, in English.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, MS Office, and web‑based instructional tools.
- Knowledge of the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
- Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum nine credit‑hours related to education field (behavior management, instructional strategies).
- One year of experience working with students in structured educational settings preferred; two to four years of experience in a structured setting (daycare, pre‑school, adult day program, after‑school program) required if no related coursework.
- Successful completion of the Para Pro Assessment (score ≥ 455) required.
