- Provide researched‑based instructional practices to support academic and social‑emotional needs of students and promote student growth.
- Utilize a variety of data sources and problem‑solving structures to ensure academic and social‑emotional success of all students; make data‑driven decisions using formative and summative assessments.
- Demonstrate current pedagogical practices in the classroom through participation in a professional learning community.
- Collaborate with other teachers to promote student learning and growth.
- Complete and communicate general paperwork for assigned students.
- Plan a balanced program, integrated with the overall district‑wide programs; evaluate and modify instruction based on assessment results.
- Establish clear procedures to maximize learning time, maintain norms of student behavior, and create an environment of trust, respect, and safety for all students.
- Use questioning, discussion, and active construction techniques to engage all students in learning.
- Maintain accurate records, communicate expectations for learning to students, and provide evaluation information for comprehensive case studies.
- Participate in IEP conferences, prepare IEP goals and paperwork in compliance with laws and district policies.
- Provide services/modifications as required by IEP/504 in an integrated model.
- Assist in designing venues to celebrate student artwork.
- Help maintain a positive school district environment with appropriate language, positive discipline, and model positive behavior.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the superintendent, principal, or administrative designee.
- Possess a Professional Educator License in Art Education.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Meet all certification requirements, including teaching and appropriate content area endorsements in Illinois.
- Proven ability to inspire creativity in students using a variety of art media.
- Experience designing venues to celebrate student artwork.
- Proven ability to provide specially designed instruction to students with a wide variety of needs and abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to meet individual student needs and the needs of groups.
- Demonstrated time‑management skills; ability to handle multiple demands.
- Proficiency using a variety of technology and software—including word processors, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Capacity to learn new software and apply skills within the work environment.
- Strong collaborative, communication, organizational, and computer skills.
- Ability to work independently, engage with the public, and appropriately communicate information to district administration, staff, and the community.
- Ability to manage physical demands of the job: walking, navigating stairs, sitting for long periods, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Demonstrated ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student information.
- Willingness to pursue professional development opportunities and welcome feedback.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
Commensurate with qualifications and experience, based on the Winfield Teachers Association and Winfield Board of Education contract if candidate is certified through the Illinois State Board of Education.
Work Calendar and HoursSchool year calendar aligned with the WTA/BOE contract. Conference days are flexed before and after the school year for data review and reporting.
