Spring Wood Middle School is looking for a Band Director Long Term Substitute Teacher for the months of March, April, May, and the first week of June. The substitute teacher will take over a program of 120 students across grades 6‑8. The school has three curricular bands: 6th Grade Concert Band, 7th Grade Wind Ensemble, and 8th Grade Symphonic Band, each with two separate classes daily and rehearsals during curricular hours.

The program also offers a club Jazz Band after school once a week and club practice hours twice a week, ending mid‑April. The substitute teacher will be comfortable leading the end‑of‑year Music In The Parks field trip to Six Flags and a small pep‑band‑style performance of student volunteers on the second‑to‑last day of school. The field trip involves performing for a competition and supervising the 7th and 8th grade students at Six Flags with many adult volunteers.

If the band director goes into labor early, the substitute teacher will also need to conduct the final major concert of the year and a brief tour of the two elementary schools.
