REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, must be at least 19 years old with at least two years’ experience in youth related leadership required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Create, implement, and communicate lesson plans and weekly schedule.
- Train, supervise and evaluate staff.
- Conduct staff meetings and training.
- Organize program special events and related activities.
- Purchase, distribute, and maintain an inventory of supplies.
- Respond to concerns and complaints in a timely manner.
- Enforce camp rules and regulations.
- Guide campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities.
- Observe campers behavior, assess its appropriateness and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
- Collect in‑processing forms from parents.
- Obtain a list of medication. Control and administer medication based on written consent.
- Provide a high quality of customer service in a professional manner to the internal customer that will facilitate team building and exceptional customer service to the external customer.
- Follow the Wheaton Park District policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Proactively support the V.A.L.U.E.S. (integrity, fun, commitment, adaptability and growth, kindness, and service) on a daily basis.
- Organize, live, demonstrate, and implement the Character Counts program for coaches and parents.
- Maintain good safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ETC.
Must have and maintain: valid driver’s license with acceptable driving records; CPR/AED certified or obtained within one (1) year of employment. Be a “Mandated Reporter” for the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to: occasionally remain in a stationary position for long periods; occasionally move about the facility and outdoors and position one’s self to interact with campers; occasionally walk on uneven ground and move items such as supplies for camp activities weighing up to 25 lbs. and overhead and shoulders up to 10 lbs.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Must be able to: occasionally work indoors in moderate lighting and noise and be exposed to all weather conditions, biting/stinging bugs and insects, dirt, and poisonous plants.
SALARY
Looking to hire at $17.00+ per hour DOE
SALARY RANGE
Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum
$15.00 - $18.75 - $22.50
HOURS
40 hours per week
