Building Maintenance, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Maintenance Technician within the DuPage County Facilities Management Department. This position performs a variety of tasks in the maintenance, repair, alteration, and remodeling of all County buildings and equipment.

Salary and Shift DifferentialsThe salary for this position will be $58,575 plus a $1.25 per hour shift differential for all shifts scheduled to begin work between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. and/or a $1.25 per hour shift differential for any employee scheduled to work the 48 hours between 12:00 a.m. (midnight) on Saturday morning and 11:59 p.m. on Sunday evening.

Responsibilities- Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and repairs
- Constructs, repairs and installs cabinets, desks, and other office furniture
- Repairs windows, doors and locks and replaces tiles and floor coverings
- Installs framing, drywall, ceilings, paneling and baseboards
- Installs and replaces concrete sidewalks or cracked wall plaster
- Maintains air conditioning and ventilating units including routine repairs
- Repairs laundry and kitchen equipment
- Operates power tools, hand tools, light trucks, light construction equipment and other related equipment
- Prepares preliminary sketches to follow for repair work
- Estimates project costs and prepares requisitions for materials
- Maintains adequate stock of parts and supplies
- Maintains records of work requests received and completed
- Inspects work for compliance with specifications
- Completion of a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma equivalent
- Three (3) years of experience in maintenance and repair work, including one (1) year of experience in at least one of the building trades
- Must possess and maintain in good standing a valid Illinois Driver's License

Physical RequirementsHeavy Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than for medium work.
The work will occur in an office and field environment. The work environment for this position frequently includes working near moving mechanical parts, in high or precarious places, with fumes or airborne particles, with the risk of electrical shock, and occasionally in cramped or confined spaces.
