Job Description

WVU Medicine seeks a Hospitalist. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in the primary locations of Wheeling, WV.

Duties:
The successful candidate will practice in the area of Internal Medicine.

Qualifications:

applicants must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidates must be board certified / eligible in Internal Medicine. Employer accepts Family Medicine boards with significant Hospitalist experience.

As a full member of the health system, Wheeling Hospital is part of a broad, integrated network of doctors, hospitals, clinics, and specialized institutes across West Virginia, Southwestern Pennsylvania, Western Maryland, and Ohio. Wheeling Hospital has served the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia, Eastern Ohio, and parts of Pennsylvania longer than any other hospital in the state. It has 247 beds, and the medical staff totals 230 primary care and specialty physicians.

Two additional system hospitals provide service to this region. Weirton Medical Center in Weirton, WV has 238 beds while Reynolds Memorial Hospital has 94 beds and is in Glen Dale, WV. Other services at Wheeling Hospital include the Continuous Care Center, the Wheeling Renal Care, and the Howard Long Wellness Center. Connected to the hospital are four medical office buildings where 80 physicians have their private offices.

Wheeling is a historic city in the Northern panhandle of WV on the Ohio River and lies 58 miles west of Pittsburgh, PA. Wheeling’s cultural community includes the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra which offers entertainment state-wide and educational outreach programs for students of all ages. The Oglebay Institute includes art and dance studios, classrooms, galleries, theatres and museums. From hundreds of fairs and festivals to arts and culture, there is something for everyone.

Year-round activities include golf, hiking, biking, kayaking/water sports, skiing/snowboarding, and host of family activities.
