Provides Social Services to all patients and families. As a member of the treatment team(s) and the unit, is responsible for providing a broad range of treatment and rehabilitation activities for the population served.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s Degree in a related field.
- Licensure in a related field:
- LCSW or LICSW
- LPC
- Supervised-Psychologist or Licensed Psychologist
- West Virginia state criminal background check, and federal background check if applicable for DHHR regulated area.
- AVADE training required within 90 days of hire (level dependent on location).
- Advanced certification preferred when applicable.
- Prior experience in behavioral health.
- Participates as an integral professional member of an interdisciplinary treatment team led by a physician.
- Participates as clinical personnel in a treatment area and facilitates therapeutic milieu on the treatment unit, when applicable.
- Provides direct one‑on‑one age‑specific psychotherapy services to patients when requested via specific program requirements.
- Assists medical staff in determining appropriateness of services and receives referrals for intervention.
- Determines the developmental age and assists the treatment team in developing and implementing a treatment plan tailored to developmental needs and/or required intervention.
- Assesses psychosocial needs, including assessment for high‑risk indicators, and documents the acquisition of psychosocial history and assessment.
- Correlates all assembled data on the psychosocial history in a manner that is clinically pertinent to the individual patient.
- Performs continued‑care planning as developed with the treatment team from the first day of services.
- Provides group therapy as deemed appropriate.
- Acts as liaison for patients and their families to various community agencies, consultants, and services.
- Records and charts all patient contacts as required.
- Provides direct family therapy to patients and their families as directed by treatment planning and program requirements.
- Maintains appropriate certification, licensure and competency through supervision and/or training and successful completion of annual performance evaluations.
- Attends continuing education seminars and in‑services as necessary to maintain licensure, competency, and to meet hospital required educational standards.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Able to work in a variety of settings and possibly noisy environments.
- Work with difficult or challenging clients of various ages and demographics.
- Possesses the interpersonal skills to positively and effectively communicate, negotiate, and resolve conflict.
- Uses competent clinical practice and critical thinking skills to efficiently deliver patient care with all health care providers while maximizing efficient use of resources.
- Ability to be flexible in response to changes in work volume, staff and scheduling changes.
- Ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions and capable of adapting to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis.
