This Registered Nurse position provides patient care on the 6th floor of the Med/Surg department with rotating day and night shifts, every other weekend, and a requirement of 4 holidays per year.
- Demonstrate safety and continuity of care using documentation, handoff tools, and processes.
- Create and implement a plan of care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnoses, interventions, and evaluation of outcomes.
- Recognize patient safety concerns and use appropriate resources.
- Provide patient education based on unique learning needs.
- Integrate patient individuality and mutuality data into care delivery.
- Perform adequate patient assessment and documentation.
- Use the teach‑back method to evaluate education effectiveness.
- Utilize evidence‑based practice in nursing care.
- Participate in an organizational patient‑centered care model.
- Document problems and issues in the plan of care.
- Grow ability to care for more complex patients through consultation with experienced colleagues.
- Commit to lifelong learning through self‑reflection and inquiry.
- Retain accountability for delegated nursing care.
- Recognize scope of practice for all interprofessional team members.
- Participate in holistic, culturally sensitive data collection.
- Assess the impact of family dynamics on patient health and wellness.
- Apply the American Nursing Association (ANA) code of ethics to guide practice.
- Identify discriminatory healthcare practices in culturally diverse populations.
- Individualize care based on patient beliefs, barriers, and readiness to learn.
- Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state of service or a multi‑state RN license through the eNLC.
- Obtains Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
- Less than 12 months of experience as a registered nurse.
- BSN preferred.
- Limit manual patient lifts to 35 pounds; use lift equipment or patient‑handling aids.
- Work requires strength and stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying materials weighing 40+ lbs.
- Normal visual acuity required.
- Normal hearing required.
- Protracted or irregular hours.
- Work around biohazards and infectious diseases.
- Work with or near the deceased.
- Work with hand immersion in water.
- Work with electrical hazards related to patient‑care equipment.
