The role serves as the organization’s subject‑matter expert on real estate valuation, overseeing all collateral within Royal Credit Union’s business lending department.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing commercial and residential appraisal processes, including third‑party vendors.
- Supporting as a reviewer and escalation point for complex appraisal issues.
- Overseeing environmental due diligence to ensure proper risk assessment and mitigation.
- Performing internal commercial real estate (CRE) and non‑CRE evaluations.
- Managing construction loan administration.
- Managing flood hazard coverage and determination processes.
- Maintaining compliance with credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory guidance on appraisal independence.
- Communicating effectively with external/internal customers and third‑party vendors.
- Compensation: Salaried position; candidates with significant experience may earn higher. Pay depends on location.
- WI range: $97,200 – $111,800
- MN range: $110,900 – $127,600

- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Seven (7) years of commercial and residential real estate appraisal experience
- Environmental due diligence experience
- Appraisal or appraisal review experience
- Wisconsin and/or Minnesota Certified Residential or General Appraisal License
- Regular travel within Royal Credit Union’s geographic footprint for property inspections and onsite reviews.
- Valuation &
Risk Management:
Deep expertise in commercial lending, appraisal review, and environmental due diligence; capable of solving complex collateral issues and recommending risk mitigation strategies. - Process & Project Management: Efficiently oversee multiple tasks, projects, and routines under tight deadlines.
- Communication &
Collaboration:
Strong written and verbal skills; able to present information, respond to questions, and collaborate effectively. - Analytical & Problem‑Solving: Excellent analytical, judgment, and decision‑making abilities; able to evaluate and improve existing processes.
- Technical Proficiency & Adaptability: Proficient in Microsoft Office; quick to learn new technologies; able to prepare clear, concise reports and presentations.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience with Fiserv DNA and/or Abrigo Sageworks CLOS software.
- Full‑time;
Monday‑Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend hours as needed. - Hybrid is possible after 4‑6 months of training and proficiency.
- Office location flexible between Corporate Office in Eau Claire, WI, or White Bear Lake, MN, based on availability and preference.
- Foundation Training at the Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI: 9:00 am – 4:30 pm on Monday and Tuesday during the first week.
- Out‑of‑town learners reimbursed for travel and lodging costs.
