Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a Contract position based in White Plains, New York. This role will focus on financial reporting, account analysis, reconciliations, and budget support while helping leadership maintain accurate visibility into the organization’s financial performance. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger knowledge, sound tax and reporting experience, and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment with regular hours and flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review financial statements and recurring reports, including balance sheets and profit and loss summaries, to support accurate month-to-month reporting.
• Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts, investigate variances, and correct discrepancies to maintain reliable financial records.
• Record journal entries and oversee daily accounting activity related to assets, liabilities, expenses, and revenue.
• Partner with finance leadership to develop budgets, update forecasts, and provide analysis that supports planning and business decisions.
• Evaluate spending patterns across departments and highlight opportunities to improve cost control and financial efficiency.
• Support corporate and sales tax activities by assisting with tax reporting, compliance review, and related documentation.
• Conduct audit support work by examining records, validating transactions, and helping resolve exceptions identified during reviews.
• Monitor changes in accounting and tax regulations and apply updated guidance to reporting and compliance practices.
• Assist with accounts payable tracking and invoice-related processes, including work connected to Net Suite and vendor payment workflows.
