The Senior Tax Accountant – Indirect Tax will support VEG’s state and local tax function with a primary focus on sales and use tax, personal property tax, and other indirect tax matters. This role will take meaningful ownership of recurring compliance, reconciliations, taxability analysis, notices, audits, registrations, account maintenance, and process improvement across a growing multistate organization.

This position is ideal for a tax professional with 3–4 years of experience who has developed a strong foundation in indirect tax within a large public accounting firm or similarly complex corporate environment. The role requires strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage recurring responsibilities while partnering with internal teams, taxing authorities, and external service providers.

The Senior Tax Accountant will also play an important role in helping VEG continue to build scalable indirect tax processes as the company expands into additional jurisdictions. Experience with Avalara or other tax technology platforms is a plus.

• Own and support multistate sales and use tax compliance, including review of monthly filings, reconciliations, taxability issues, exemption activity, account maintenance, and resolution of filing discrepancies.
• Support and increasingly own personal property tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, including data gathering, return preparation and review, assessment review, payment tracking, jurisdiction-specific requirements, and maintenance of filing calendars and records.
• Research and analyze state and local tax issues, including sales and use tax, personal property tax, business licenses, gross receipts taxes, and other indirect or locally administered taxes.
• Review and resolve notices, assessments, audits, and information requests from state and local taxing authorities, including researching issues, preparing supporting documentation, coordinating responses, and tracking matters through resolution.
• Manage state and local tax registrations, account maintenance, portal access, filing requirements, and ongoing compliance administration across jurisdictions.
• Perform reconciliations of tax filings, payments, general ledger accounts, transaction data, and supporting work papers to identify discrepancies and ensure tax obligations are accurately recorded and paid.
• Support indirect tax technology and process administration, including tax code mapping, rate and taxability reviews, exemption certificate processes, transaction-level analysis, and Avalara-related workflows.
