SUMMARY
The Assistant Teacher provides supervision to children ages 2 months – 5 years. This position is responsible for providing appropriate learning and recreational activities for children in that age range and for supporting the lead teacher in creating a safe, secure, and nurturing environment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Prepares and organizes age‑appropriate learning and recreational activities.
- Collaborates with caseworkers and other staff to address childcare and related issues.
- Tracks daily sign‑in sheets and maintains all other pertinent forms as required.
- Maintains safety standards for childcare areas.
- Ensures a safe, hygienic, well‑organized environment at all times.
- Promptly reports possible child abuse or neglect to supervisor.
- Supervises and interacts with children during recreational/learning activities.
- Observes behavior of children; identifies and reports concerns to supervisor.
- Performs all other related duties as required.
The ideal candidate will have training or classes in early childhood education or a CDA (child development program credential). A relevant bachelor’s degree is preferred. Previous experience with young children is required. The candidate must be available to work weekends, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and possess a valid driver’s license for at least two years (vehicle ownership is a plus).
