Job SummaryLangan is seeking a part‑time on‑call Hazmat Specialist to join its collaborative team in White Plains, NY. The candidate will provide assistance with surveys and samples of buildings and monitoring services for abatement and remediation contractors. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse, multi‑disciplinary team on major land development projects.
Job Responsibilities- Perform surveys and sampling of interior and exterior building materials for possible asbestos, lead‑based paint, PCBs, and other contaminants.
- Assist with environmental sampling of soils, water, dust, and indoor air as needed.
- Monitor services including overseeing abatement/remediation contractors, documenting work, conducting post‑abatement visual inspections, and clearance/re‑occupancy sampling.
- Remain current on planning practices, guidelines, and best management practices; attend internal training and external lectures to expand knowledge and skills.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- High school diploma; associate’s degree in engineering technology, construction management, or related field preferred.
- Licenses/certifications in asbestos inspector, asbestos project monitor, and lead inspector.
- 0–4 years of related practical experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.

CompensationEstimated rate: $33 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, location, market conditions, education, certifications, and other credentials. The role may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm’s annual bonus and performance review program.
