Job Purpose And SummaryThe Staff Pharmacist plays a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in the pharmacy, modeling our values, and demonstrating authentic care for patients. Supporting the Pharmacy Manager, the Staff Pharmacist is accountable for managing, overseeing, and operating all aspects of the pharmacy while ensuring compliance and patient safety.
Responsibilities- Provide safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunization services to support patient health.
- Act as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy when the manager is absent, strengthening performance measures through coaching and follow‑up.
- Assume day‑to‑day duties when serving as the primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Ensure accurate prescription fulfillment and direct the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails.
- Promote empathy and genuine care, coach the team to provide compassionate service, and resolve insurance or medication issues.
- Offer proactive immunizations and support technicians in learning to immunize.
- Maintain inventory best practices, especially for cold‑chain products.
- Ensure pharmacy operations comply with state pharmacy regulations and elevate issues to the Pharmacy Manager or Rx DL as needed.
- Stay flexible for scheduling and business needs, including writing the pharmacy schedule when directed.
- Maintain clinical and technical skills, pursue CME opportunities, and stay current to better support patients.
- Deliver clinical care such as testing and prescribing services when permissible, empowering the team to provide holistic care.
- Comply with federal and state laws, professional standards, and CVS Health policies related to patient safety and controlled substance dispensing.
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located.
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
- Regular, predictable attendance including nights and weekends.
- Completion of required training within designated timeframe.

- Confirm prescription information and label accuracy for patient safety.

- Use math to determine total tablets, day’s supply, and bottle quantities.

- Physical Demands
- Mobility and extended standing.
- Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; operate devices with precision.
- Lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally; 10 lbs. frequently; occasional negligible force.
- Select, exchange ideas verbally with accuracy.
- Other tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
- 1–2 years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Ability to work across the market as business needs require.

Pay Range$65.00 – $81.00 per hour (base hourly rate). Actual offer dependent on experience, education, location, and other factors.
