Pharmacy Technician
Position Summary
The Pharmacy Assistant performs pharmacy functions under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. Duties include but are not limited to: pharmacist support including answering phones and processing medication demands, filling patient‑specific medication, Cleanroom/IV support in compliance with USP Chapter 797 and 800 procedures, filling and maintaining the Pyxis Med Stations, filling floor stock orders, filling and replacing emergency kits, medication packaging, inventory management, performing various computer functions related to billing, printing labels and reports, and maintaining regulatory standards.
Responsibilities- Performs all tasks according to policy and procedure.
- Compliance with all elements of the Pharmacy Assistant training tool.
- Integrates customer service into work practice.
- Performs workflow that maintains regulatory compliance of the department.
- Utilizes current hospital requirements for infection control.
- Participates in Performance Improvement Initiatives.
- Utilizes appropriate steps in the decision‑making process to include recognition and priority setting related to pharmacy workflow issues.
- Collaborates and communicates with the health‑care team.
- Completes competency requirements.
- Attends mandatory in‑services.
- Attends staff meetings as required or requested.
- Utilizes cost‑containment practices.
- Adheres to all WPH policies and procedures, including dress code, code of conduct, customer service, attendance, and submission of annual physical.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board – PTCB).
- Maintain continuing education requirements established by the certifying board.
- Ability to act in a professional capacity and serve as a role model.
- Exhibit teamwork and adaptability during staffing changes.
- Communicate effectively (written and verbal) in English.
- Retain composure under stress.
- Physically able to move, remove, and transport heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently perform difficult manipulative arm‑hand steadiness and hand‑eye coordination skills.
- Physically able to ambulate or be stationary for extended periods.
- Concentrate on fine detail, maintaining focus for more than 60 minutes at a time; understand theoretical concepts and remember multiple tasks during a day.
- Meet all regulatory requirements bodily.
- Have adequate vision and hearing to perform duties with background noise.
- May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform tasks; hazardous chemicals are listed in the hospital’s SDS database.

Salary RangeSalary Range: $55,905.92 – $83,869.89 (based on full‑time employment)
