Location: City of White Plains

Responsible for safe and efficient operation of company aircraft, including flight planning, operations, passenger interaction, and communication with company. Provides support to the Aviation Manager and NYPA staff for aircraft scheduling, record keeping, and maintenance planning and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate the company airplane in accordance with approved operating procedures and current FAA regulations. As Pilot Flying (PF)-in-Command, maintain in-flight control of aircraft; monitor aircraft condition and performance, review limitations and operational concerns, monitor fuel requirements, necessity and condition of alternate airports, and determine operational implications of malfunctions, altering flight operations as necessary.

• Assist and/or conduct flight planning, evaluate and monitor weather, maintain aircraft readiness, and oversee routine aircraft servicing.

• Maintain and verify aircraft and pilot flight records using PFM software. Assist department personnel with reports and scheduling as required.

• Maintain contact with Chief Pilot and Travel Desk to update schedule changes and passengers' needs. Process/edit all requests, as necessary, ensuring that correct data is entered in the PFM system.

• Assist with passenger scheduling

• Verify appropriate aircraft navigational databases, charts, and aircraft and FAA publications as required. Familiar with Company Aircraft Policy and Procedures manual.

• Coordinate with fixed-base operators to ensure proper services, e.g., fueling, de-icing, are performed during stopovers and hanger stays, as requested by PIC or fellow crew.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledgeable about all FAA regulations pertinent to Authority aircraft operations, and of Flight Department policies and procedures.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with passengers and other flight crew.

• As a problem solver, ability to use experience and training to facilitate travel of company personnel under changing conditions. Capable of providing clear, concise instructions and guidance to passengers and crew members during normal and emergency operations, engaging in effective Cockpit Resource Management (CRM) practices.

• As a flight crew member, ability to make in-flight control decisions that can be critical regarding safety, and which rely on evaluation of conditions and options and input from fellow crew members. Operate under the general administrative direction of the Aviation Manager/Chief Pilot and receive guidance from department leadership when questions arise.

• Excellent Communication skills

• Ability to operate complex equipment in a dynamic environment with many factors that must be constantly evaluated

• Ability to make decisions that affect safety and security of personnel and company assets.

Education, Experience and Certifications

Required:

• A Commercial Pilot license with instrument and multi-engine ratings, required.

• Minimum of 1500 total flight hours.

• High school diploma

• FAA Class I or II Medical

Preferred:

• 1000 hours in multi-engine aircraft as pilot-in-command

• 2000 hours total flight time

• 500 Turboprop hours

• 50 hours in Type BE-300

• FAA Airline Transport Pilot License

• King Air BE-300 type certification.

• Current King Airsimulator-based training course.

• Two years of college or equivalent technical experience.

Physical Requirements

• FAA 2nd Class medical certificate required.

• Occasional operations outside of normal business hours (12 to 14-hour duty day), on nights, and weekends.

• Meteorological conditions affecting area of operations include thunderstorms, high winds, ice and snow, extended outdoor work in inclement conditions and work in a high noise, dynamic airport environment.

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is: $87,000-$119,900. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
