Responsibilities- Accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities whenever state and federal laws/regulations allow, ensuring efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Serves as a full-time certified pharmacy technician.
- Responsible for operating pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers in accordance with authorized company policies, laws, regulations and business ethics.
- Responsible for the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Lead training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians. Make decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer complaints, help respond to customers’ requests in a timely manner, and answer non-clinical questions to ensure a positive customer experience. Model and share customer service best practices.
- Develop strong relationships with customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services to provide the best experience possible in the pharmacy. Enhance experience by increasing focus on healthcare services.
- Assist pharmacist in delivering patient care including registration, prescription data entry, preparation of medications, counting, and verification (where allowed by law). Complete patient and physician calls under pharmacist supervision (where allowed). Assist with healthcare service offerings such as vaccines and health screenings.
- Within company policies and regulations, exercise independent judgment to delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work. Ensure tasks are completed on time and hold others accountable for efficient workflow.
- At the direction of the Pharmacy Manager or pharmacist, prepare and file required reports and records for the company and government agencies.
- Manage core pharmacy workflow, coordinate daily schedule, recommend allocation of pharmacy hours, and ensure the pharmacy is clean, neat, orderly, and stocked.
- Under pharmacist direction, exercise judgment to ensure compliance with all administrative activities and inventory management tasks not requiring pharmacist licensure. Manage annual inventory preparation.
- Accountable for completing non-clinical patient calls, driving new technology/process roll‑out, championing change, and ensuring proper operation and maintenance of department equipment.
- Work with Pharmacy Manager to ensure security safeguards are in place and report any concerns that compromise pharmacy security.
- Communicate prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and adhere to company policies in relation to pharmacy errors and continuous quality improvement.
- Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims, follow up with insurers and medical providers, and participate in third‑party audit.
- Assist Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service.
- Manage Community Outreach Portal, coordinate assignments of pharmacists to off‑site immunization clinics and community events, and build relationships with retail partners.
- Lead performance management of technicians including discipline and termination decisions, following constructive discipline policy.
- Hold technicians accountable for attendance, timeliness, and timely completion of training.
- Identify gaps in pharmacy operations knowledge and support team members through hands‑on training or learning modules.
- Assist Pharmacy Manager in ensuring all pharmacy and team member licensures, registrations, and certifications are active and compliant. Use Walgreens Online Verification System as needed.
