The Non-Credit Phlebotomy Instructor is a part-time instructor responsible for teaching all aspects of the phlebotomy training program at Lehigh Carbon Community College. The primary responsibility is to deliver engaging and effective classroom lectures and laboratory instruction, ensuring students develop the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed as entry-level phlebotomists. This role involves comprehensive curriculum delivery, hands-on skills training, student assessment, and fostering a professional and supportive learning environment.

• Deliver comprehensive instruction on the theory and practice of phlebotomy, including venipuncture, capillary collection, and specimen handling
• Teach relevant anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and basic laboratory concepts
• Supervise and guide students during hands-on practice in a lab
• Demonstrate and ensure students master proper techniques for blood collection, patient identification, infection control, and safety
• Adapt the college’s approved curriculum to meet student learning outcomes and industry standards
• Ensure course content aligns with the requirements for national phlebotomy certification exams (e.g., NHA or ASCP)
• Evaluate student competency through a variety of methods, including practical skills assessments and quizzes
• Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their technique
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom and lab
• Uphold professional and ethical standards, and model positive patient interaction skills
• Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and grades
• Provide academic support and guidance to students; foster a positive learning atmosphere

• Required
• Experience:
  
  A minimum of two (2) years of recent, hands-on clinical experience as a phlebotomist or in a related healthcare role (e.g., Medical Assistant, RN, LPN)
• Certification:
  Current and valid phlebotomy certification from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., NHA, ASCP, or ASPT)
• Education:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher in a healthcare-related field is often preferred
• Skills:
  
  Strong communication, instructional, and classroom management; ability to teach and motivate adult learners with varying skill levels
• Background Clearances:
  Must be able to obtain and maintain PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Background Check, and PA Child Abuse History clearance

• Preferred
• Experience in adult education or workforce training
• Familiarity with non-credit or continuing education settings
