We’re actively looking for a experienced Quantity Surveyor’s to work on a range of complex nuclear decommissioning and new build work here in Cumbria.

- You will deliver commercial tasks as directed in order to support the Company in achieving a successful financial outcome on projects.
- You’ll have gained some professional experience in quantity surveying/commercial management and will be able to work with a minimum of supervision.
- You will be tasked with delivery of allotted commercial activities as assigned by a more senior member of the commercial team. Work can be executed independently in a specific or narrow field (e.g. sole responsibility for the commercial function on a small project) or as part of a team (e.g. as part of a project team on a significant project), though all work is subject to review and approval by a more senior member of the commercial team.
- You will interpret and assimilate commercial information using this to produce required reports, documentation and support management decision making.
- Execution: Use company-wide Business Operating Procedures (BOPs) and commercial policies and procedures, standards and working practices to manage commercial activity (e.g. valuation of work, processing of changes to time) to support the company realising optimum commercial value in all activity.
- Governance: Comply with national laws/regulations and adhere to company-wide & commercial BOPs to ensure that commercial management activity is conducted in line with standardised working procedures. Provide accurate forecasting and reporting of commercial metrics to facilitate management decision making.
- Innovation: look for opportunities for efficiency savings and development as well as contributing to project reviews/lessons learnt in order to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Communication: Build and maintain an internal and external (client) relationship network in order to leverage expertise, contribute to decision making and satisfy stakeholder requirements.
- People Development: Take accountability for their own personal Professional Development Record as part of Altrad Babcock's talent management ethos. Mentor and provide guidance to more junior members of staff related to technical execution of their roles to support the development of the next level of talent within the organisation.
- Working towards a Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience in commercial /contract management
- Membership of/commitment to or studying for Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) qualifications or other relevant equivalent professional qualification
- Typically 3 years experience where knowledge of engineering was a key attribute.
- Worked within a highly regulated and quality assured system where design and engineering was a major part of the role.
- Awareness of laws, regulations, processes and procedures appropriate to the area supported.
