Learning Assistance Teacher at PCSS

Shape the future of education as a Learning Assistance Teacher at Porter Creek Secondary School in Whitehorse, Yukon. This temporary position focuses on customized support for students grades 8-12 with diverse needs.

At the Department of Education, we strive for excellence and inclusivity. The successful candidate will manage cases and develop programming tailored for students with both high and low incidence disabilities. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and integrate cultural values into education for Yukon students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and implement targeted literacy and numeracy interventions

• Develop and revise Individual Education Plans for students

• Participate in case management with a collaborative team

• Use trauma-informed strategies to facilitate student success

• Adapt curriculum to diverse learning abilities

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Education or equivalent qualification

• Experience with strength-based interventions in secondary education

• Knowledge of First Nations culture and aspirations

• Strong classroom management and communication skills

• Yukon Teacher Certification required
