Senior Scholar, Northern Social Work

Job Overview

YukonU seeks a faculty member deeply committed to teaching, research, and scholarship in Social Work and Social Work Education. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing a new made‑in‑Yukon Social Work degree, creating inclusive learning experiences, and engaging in research that partners with Indigenous peoples.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses and supervise students.
  • Lead degree development, including program mapping, curriculum design, and ensuring relevance to Yukon First Nations needs.
  • Conduct research and scholarly activities in partnership with Indigenous, northern, or rural/remote communities, and supervise faculty and student research projects.
  • Cultivate an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across all activities.
Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Social Work.
  • Strong scholarly and/or creative activity in Social Work, preferably with Indigenous, northern, or rural/remote communities.
  • Significant experience in direct practice and/or clinical settings, preferably in Yukon or a rural/remote context.
  • Previous postsecondary teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to institutional service or community engagement.
Preferred Experience (Assets)
  • Mentoring emerging faculty.
  • Developing curriculum and conducting program assessments.
  • Teaching via distance‑education technologies.
