We are currently seeking a talented individual to join the Golden Horn Elementary School team. GHES is located within the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta'an Kwäch'än Council. We value experiential/place based learning on the land and inside the classroom. We strive to use the best research-driven teaching methods that foster learner agency and student-led learning experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS ANDEXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Education
- Hold a current Canadian teacher’s certification or be eligible to hold a Canadian certification;
- Recent classroom teaching experience and/or Teacher Candidate Practicum experience in intermediate grades;
- Experience with Universal Design for Learning, assessment for, as and of learning with a wide range of abilities and learning.
- Recent Experience implementing experiential learning in an intermediate classroom setting.
- A knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of First Nations people and a culturally diverse student population;
- Experience and training with teaching and assessment strategies proving comprehensive literacy and numeracy programing in an intermediate classroom.
- Ability to implement an emergent, inquiry-based curriculum that is centered around student interests;
- Experience embedding student-engaged assessment into teaching, learning and assessment, and as an integral part of communicating student learning;
- Experience with inclusive instruction in diverse classroom settings;
- Experience integrating experiential and project based learning across the curriculum;
- Experience leading multi-day trip over night trips with intermediate students;
- Ability to lead extracurricular activities (considered an asset);
- Experience and willingness in planning and participating in school-wide initiatives;
- Experience integrating outdoor education and experiential learning with the BC curriculum;
- Ability to support social-emotional learning in the classroom;
- Strong classroom management, planning and organizational skills;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work positively and collaboratively with students, staff and the school community;
- Candidates who possess qualifications, skills, and personal attributes that are appropriate for the assignment who do not hold a valid teaching certificate, at request, may be granted a letter of permission as a teacher issued in accordance with the Education Act
- If you are a permanent (indeterminate) teacher in a Yukon school, you will need to seek permission from your Superintendent to apply on this temporary job
- Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
