We are currently seeking a talented individual to join the Jack Hulland Elementary School team. JHES acknowledges and respects, and are grateful for the opportunity to work, learn and play within the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. Jack Hulland Elementary is a Kindergarten to Grade 7 neighbourhood school aiming to foster a welcoming, safe, and inclusive educational environment;

one where each student is supported to meet their full potential.

This position provides an opportunity to work as an In determinant 1.0 FTE Physical Education Teacher at JHES commencing August 20, 2026. JHES is a Ready to Learn School, using the Neurosequential Model in Education to drive our practice.

Assignment:
Physical Education teacher

• Bachelor of Physical Education or Bachelor of Education majoring or minoring in physical education
• Teaching experience in a physical education context
• Teaching experience using innovative assessment strategies in physical education
• Teaching experience with integration of social and emotional learning throughout programming
• Knowledge, skills, and training related to the Neurosequential Model in Education (NME) informed practice is an asset

• Knowledge of & sensitivity to the culture & aspirations of the First Nations people of Yukon & a culturally diverse student population
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish trusting relationships when working with students, families, staff members and administrators
• Effective and respectful classroom management based on a developmental understanding of children
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• A strong commitment to the practice of differentiated instruction and assessment within classroom programming designed to meet individual student needs
• Ability to adapt curriculum to meet a wide range of learning abilities and styles and to meet the needs of students with Individual Education Plans
• Ability to develop and implement Individual Educational Plan and Student Behavioural Plans in collaboration with school staff
• Willingness and ability to work as a member of a professional team and to promote, support and work collaboratively with all staff on school initiatives within the total school program
• Willingness to support the philosophy, values and beliefs of the school and to support the school growth plan

• Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
• Yukon Teacher Certification; learn about the certification process here
• Yukon First Nations 101, to be completed at your first opportunity

• Relocation may be available
• Candidates who possess qualifications, skills, and personal attributes that are appropriate for the assignment who do not hold a valid teaching certificate, at request, may be granted a letter of permission as a teacher issued in accordance with the Education Act
