Position: Permanent Corrections Officer I

The Department of Justice is hiring five Corrections Officer I positions at Yukon’s premier correctional facility. This role requires supervising inmates, enforcing regulations, and fostering a secure environment. You will collaborate with a dedicated team committed to positive change while managing potential conflicts through effective communication.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise inmates according to facility protocols

• Enforce rules and regulations consistently

• Provide mentorship and direction to colleagues

• Ensure safety during day-to-day operations

• Participate in conflict resolution and de-escalation efforts

Requirements:

• Completion of Correctional Officer Basic Training or equivalent

• Experience in supervising and coaching inmates

• Valid Security Clearance and Medical Clearance

• Capability to manage rotating shifts and heavy lifting

• Valid Canadian Class 5 driver’s license
