We are seeking a motivated Trainee Financial Controller to join our finance team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in financial management and accounting within a dynamic organisation. The successful candidate will assist with various financial processes, gaining valuable experience and insight into our financial operations.

This position is a core part of the finance function and involves regular coordination with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, customers, and auditors. The role also supports the development of financial procedures and contributes to strategic decision‑making.

Duties
  • Utilise accounting software such as Sage and Xero to record and manage financial data
  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and ensure data integrity
  • Contribute to the reconciliation of accounts and resolve discrepancies as required
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis tasks
  • Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities
  • Collaborate with team members to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency
  • Be a point of contact within the organisation to help resolve financial issues.
  • Provide a professional insight for department heads and the board on matters as requested from time to time.
Skills
  • Basic understanding of financial management principles and accounting practices
  • Experience or familiarity with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or similar platforms is highly desirable
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Eagerness to learn and develop professional skills in finance and accounting
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting

The ideal candidate will be proactive, organised, and enthusiastic about building their expertise in financial management. Relevant accounting qualifications are highly desirable, and further learning and development is encouraged.
