JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION: ADULT CLINICIAN
CLASSIFICATION CODE: EXEMPT FULL TIME
DEPARTMENT: ADULT SERVICES
REPORTS TO: ADULT SERVICES CLINICAL SUPERVISOR
STATEMENT OF JOB:
This position provides therapeutic services to clients enrolled or eligible to be enrolled with Apache Behavioral Health Services. The Adult Clinician offers general mental health counseling and substance abuse services to clients with various needs, including SMI, suicidal ideation, trauma, and domestic violence. The role also involves referral services, collaboration with other teams, and client advocacy with service providers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage a caseload of clients requiring counseling services.Document contact with clients, complete assessments, and maintain paperwork in accordance with AHCCCS and ABHS standards. Develop and update treatment plans.Adhere to policies, procedures, and standards of ABHS, the White Mountain Apache Tribe, and regulatory authorities.Conduct assessments and facilitate services per AHCCCS guidelines, demonstrating flexibility with clients' varying needs.Perform accurate assessments and diagnoses, especially with clients presenting high comorbidity of substance abuse and trauma.Address diverse spiritual, emotional, and social needs using a trauma-informed approach, maintaining professionalism and cultural awareness.Engage clients and families in counseling, assessments, and educational programs.Work with a broad range of clients, including adults and families.Collaborate with court, tribal, and community agencies and develop relationships with community partners.Provide services in various settings, including clinics, community, shelters, and homes.Participate in clinical team meetings and staffing to review client progress.Facilitate referrals to ensure continuity of care.Provide walk-in assessments and complete timely treatment plans within 72 hours of initial contact.Assist in staff training and maintain records in compliance with HIPAA, AHCCCS, and other regulations.Uphold ethical standards and serve as a positive role model for clients and staff.Participate in an on-call rotation, including weekends and holidays, as assigned.Complete all required training and report attendance reliably.Perform other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related mental health field from an accredited program; valid licensure or license-eligibility in the U.S., with Arizona licensure within one year.At least one year of relevant work experience; experience with Native Americans preferred.Excellent communication skills;
Apache language skills preferred.Critical thinking, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.Proficiency in MS Office and reliable transportation with a valid Arizona Driver’s License.Ability to pass pre-employment screenings, including background checks.Note: Preference is given to qualified Native American candidates per the Indian Preference Act.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Employees must meet physical requirements, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds, to perform essential duties effectively.
