* Job Duties:
** The Department of Sociology, Criminology, & Anthropology in the College of Letters & Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a tenure-track faculty member in sociology beginning August 2026 . This is a full-time position with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate courses, research, and service to the university, community, and profession. Research and teaching expertise should complement existing faculty expertise and may include environmental sociology, sociology of work and organizations, corporate sociology, or another similar area (or combination of these areas).
** Job Details**:
The successful candidate will be able to teach general sociology courses, as well as courses in one or more of the following areas: environmental sociology, sociology of work and organizations, corporate sociology, or another similar area. The candidate will also be expected to pursue an active research agenda that engages undergraduate students, results in publications and contributes to advancing the department, university, the profession, and society.
The candidate will also be expected to participate in service activities and embrace the principles of diversity and inclusion as a member of the university community.
** Responsibilities**:
Full-time teaching responsibilities include a rotation of courses such as Environmental Sociology (and/or Sociology of Natural Disasters);
Organizations and Society (and/or Sociology of Family and Work and/or White-Collar Crime);
Principles of Sociology; and Methods of Social Research. Course assignments will be based on departmental needs and the candidate’s area(s) of expertise.
Research expectations include publication and other scholarly work. In addition, faculty members serve as advisors/mentors to students and are encouraged to engage students in undergraduate research or other scholarly and creative activities. Service responsibilities include committee service at the departmental, college, and university levels as well as participation in community organizations and the discipline as relevant to the candidate’s expertise and interest.
Faculty at UW-W may be required to teach in a variety of formats, including in-person, online and/or in a hybrid format, or courses in the evenings. All students, faculty, and staff are required to ensure their materials are digitally accessible and utilize standard technology platforms supported by UW-Whitewater. Examples include, but are not limited to, Navigate, Canvas, and Microsoft Office applications – including Outlook, which is essential for university email communications and scheduling.

Sociology, Criminology, and Anthropology () is a multi-disciplinary department that has 14 full and part-time faculty and academic staff. It serves over 200 undergraduate majors and over 200 minors. It offers five undergraduate certificate programs, two student organizations, two national honor societies, as well as internship and undergraduate research opportunities for all students. The department is housed in the College of Letters & Sciences ().##
