** The Department of Literature, Writing, and Film in the College of Letters and Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in our Professional Writing and Publishing and/or Film Studies program, with an open specialization.

This full-time position begins in August 2026 with responsibilities for teaching, research, and service.
** JOB DETAILS:
** The successful candidate will be able to teach first-year composition courses such as Introduction to College Writing and Reading (English 101) and Introduction to College Writing, Reading, and Research (English 102), as well as upper-division courses in Professional Writing and/or Film Studies within the candidate’s primary field of expertise.  The candidate will also be expected to pursue an active research agenda that engages undergraduate students, results in publications and contributes to advancing the department, university, the profession, and society.

Participation in various service activities within the department and broader university community is also expected.
** RESPONSIBILITIES:
** Responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load, which in any given semester is expected to consist of at least two sections of first-year writing and as many as two sections of courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Faculty members serve as advisors and mentors to students and are encouraged to engage students in high-impact teaching practices such as: project-based production experiences, undergraduate research, community-based learning opportunities, and/or internships.

Research expectations require peer-reviewed research or creative activity relevant to the discipline. Service responsibilities include committee work at the departmental, college, and university levels as well as participation in community and professional organizations relevant to the candidate's expertise and interests. All students, faculty, and staff are required to ensure their materials are digitally accessible and utilize standard technology platforms supported by UW-Whitewater.

Examples include, but are not limited to, Navigate, Canvas, and Microsoft Office applications – including Outlook, which is essential for university email communications and scheduling.
