* Job Duties:

** The Department of Psychology in the College of Letters & Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of open neuroscience beginning August 2026. This is a full-time position with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate courses, for research, and for service to the university and community. Research expertise should include specialization in neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, experimental psychology, or a related discipline.
** Job Details:
** The successful candidate will be able to teach foundational psychology courses such as neuroscience and learning/conditioning and will also contribute to the department’s offerings in introductory psychology or general education. In addition, the candidate will be expected to pursue an active research agenda that engages undergraduate students, results in publications, and contributes to advancing the department, the university, the profession, and society.

The candidate will be expected to participate in service activities and support the principles of diversity and inclusion as a member of the university community. We have a number of graduate assistants available to support instruction and research efforts, and we have a supportive university Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. Start-up funding is negotiable. Early career course load reduction to support research and other academic endeavors is potentially available.
** Responsibilities:
** Full-time teaching responsibilities (4 courses per semester) may include undergraduate courses in neuroscience, learning and conditioning, statistics, and research methods; courses in the faculty member’s area of specialization; and an introductory course in psychology or general education. Research expectations include maintaining an active program of research with opportunities for undergraduate involvement. In addition, faculty members serve as advisors/mentors to students and are encouraged to engage students in undergraduate research or other scholarly and creative activities.

Service responsibilities include committee service at the departmental, college, and university levels as well as participation in community and professional organizations as relevant to the candidate’s expertise and interest.

** The Psychology Department at UW-Whitewater () offers a Bachelor's degree in psychology as well as M.S.E. and Ed.S. degrees in School Psychology through a NASP-accredited program. Faculty members in the Psychology Department have a broad range of expertise, are actively involved in scholarly and community pursuits, and share a common goal of supporting an inclusive and diverse working and learning environment.

Our mission emphasizes scientific inquiry and critical thinking skills in our students. The Department boasts a variety of research spaces, a distance-education classroom, and access to technologies to support teaching and research.##
